One can no more explain their interests than their meandering soul and the connections it happens to choose. I have often felt like a child in a flower garden – because candy stores too seldom caught my attention to serve as credible examples – a child that discovers one miracle after the next and generously or perhaps just greedily overlooks the fact that many of the gems it finds are ‘commonly thought’ to have little or ‘nothing’ in common with each other. A conventional wisdom that is almost always wrong. So I have turned from orderly exploration along lines of established thought and disciplines of knowledge to an intuitive reach. It shelters my child-like instinct to let amazement fall where it may and think about systemic order and logical nexus only later. More often than not (which you will note is my politically correct way of saying ‘always’) this has led me to discoveries one would not otherwise have found.
Are there additional dimensions to diversity that cannot be subsumed under the mantra – so as not to call it a categorical imperative – to ‘think different’? I will be grateful for coherent argument.
